Nigerian General’s Widow Applies for Welfare, Funds Still in French Bank Account and Only an American E-mail User Holds the Key

Akanke Mbooboo, wife of the late General Daren Mbooboo, has waited nearly five years for one of the twenty million Americans whom she e-mailed a generous offer regarding his frozen funds to come to her aid. With no takers she has been forced to go on the dole.

“I do not understand,” a teary-eyed Mbooboo said yesterday. “I am entitled to $30 million US dollars. All I need is the social security and bank account information of one American e-mail user so we can transfer the funds to him. All I ask is half. Is not $15 million worth giving me your social security and bank account numbers?”

But with hundreds of lonely, senile, and trusting senior citizens logging onto the World Wide Web for the first time each day, Mrs. Mbooboo remains optimistic with every new e-mail blast that the dream of recovering her husband’s lost legacy will come true.
